Letter from the Principal
Greetings, Pierce Family!
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year!
I began my career in education in 1999 as an English teacher at the former Northern High School in Detroit Public Schools. I spent 11 ½ years as a classroom teacher with DPS, Oak Park School District and Ypsilanti Community Schools. After completing my administration coursework at Wayne State, I transitioned into administration in 2012 as an assistant principal with Denby High School. I served as Principal Apprentice at Nolan during the 2013-2014 school year, and with great joy, returned to Nolan as principal in 2017.
My other educational credentials include a Bachelor of Business Administration from Grand Valley State University and Master of Education from Aquinas College.
I am honored to continue to serve in the capacity of principal of Pierce. My goal is to ensure that children and staff walk into a safe, supportive, welcoming environment where teachers create a rigorous learning environment daily that provides them with many opportunities to flourish and succeed. We succeed when we work collectively as a family!
When not working in education, I most enjoy my work as a wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother. I also enjoy traveling, concerts, cooking, and watching movies and TV.
If you have any ideas to further Pierce’s growth, questions, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me so that we can proactively work together to guarantee the best outcome for OUR children! I look forward to working with the staff and families of Pierce Middle School…LET’S GO EAGLES!
